During the laboratory test, we look at the excretory function of the kidney and its narrowing (e.g. inflammation).<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

The kidney is a paired, bean-shaped organ responsible for excretion. According to its function, it removes the breakdown products formed during metabolism, filters and purifies the blood, and regulates the body’s water balance and arterial blood pressure. In addition to the end products of nitrogen metabolism (urea, creatinine, uric acid), it also removes certain foreign substances – xenobiotics -, some inactivated hormones and drugs from the body. Normal products of metabolism (lactic acid, glucose, ketone bodies) are also excreted when their concentration exceeds the required (physiological) value.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Creatinine is a protein-product deriving from the muscle that leaves the body through the kidneys. It is produced in constant quantities. Its level depends on muscle mass and kidney function. Men tend to have higher creatinine levels than women. Creatinine should not be confused with creatine, which is produced primarily by the liver and then from there it goes to the muscles, where the body utilizes it as an energy source during muscle work. Some of the creatine is converted to creatinine in the muscles.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n
