CT scans of the cervical soft tissue usually reveal lesions and diseases of the lymph nodes, thyroid, parathyroid glands, and cervical vessels, nasal and oral cavities, pharynx, and larynx.<\/p>\n

It is also used for the examination of traumas and other injuries, acute inflammatory processes.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

How to prepare for the cervical soft tissue CT scan?<\/h2>\n\t

\n\t\t\t

It is always necessary to consult your doctor before a CT scan, because due to the radiation exposure, the CT scan can only be performed on the basis of a medical indication. The native test does not require any special preparation. However, it is recommended that you do not consume food 6 hours before the examination to allow the contrast agent to be administered if necessary.<\/p>\n

Metformin medications for diabetes should be discontinued 48 hours prior to the examination and resumed 48 hours after the examination.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n

How is the CT scan performed?<\/h2>\n\t

\n\t\t\t

A CT device is like a large, thick ring with a table moving at the bottom, you lie still on that table while the images are being taken. The device makes a humming sound during operation, but there is no need to be afraid of this.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

When is it not recommended?<\/h2>\n\t
\n\t\t
\n\t\t\t

This test is performed with X-rays and is therefore contraindicated during pregnancy because it may be dangerous to the fetus. In rare cases, if it is medically indicated – but only after a certain week of pregnancy – we also examine pregnant women with a CT scan.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n

Does it have any side effects?<\/h2>\n\t
\n\t\t
\n\t\t\t

The test has no side effects, the patient does not feel pain during the examination. A contrast agent can very rarely cause a reaction, but anyone who is allergic to it will not be examined with it.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n
